Frequently asked questions
Executive functioning refers to the mental skills that help a person plan ahead, manage their time, stay organized, regulate their emotions, and follow through on tasks. Think of it as the brain's internal project manager. For many students these skills come naturally. For others, especially in the unstructured environment of college, they need to be actively practiced and supported.
College removes most of the built-in structure that kept students on track in high school. Teachers are not checking homework, parents are not nearby, and the freedom can be overwhelming. Executive functioning coaching gives students the external scaffolding they need to manage their academic responsibilities until those habits become their own. It is not about doing the work for them. It is about making sure they have a system that works.
There are a lot of coaching services out there. Here is what makes us different:
Custom Weekly Calendars
Every student gets a personalized daily to-do list built around their specific courses, deadlines, and schedule, not a generic template. We build it together each week so your student always knows exactly what is on their plate and when it needs to happen. The calendar is accessible from any digital device.
Canvas and Blackboard Screen-Share Sessions
We log into your student's actual course portal together during every session. That means we are looking at real grades, real submissions, and real upcoming assignments, not a self-reported summary. Nothing gets glossed over or forgotten.
Parent Recap Emails After Every Session
After each meeting, you receive a written summary of what was covered, where grades stand, and what is coming up. You stay in the loop without having to ask, without interrogating your student, and without waiting until something has already gone wrong.
We are also the bridge between your student and you. Parents are often the last to know when something is going wrong academically. With Executive Functioning and Beyond, you are always informed, not because your student has to report to you, but because we do.
Free Intake Call: 15 to 20 min call to discuss your student's courses and goals
Onboarding and Setup: Schedule sessions, share syllabi, and build the first custom weekly calendar.
Weekly Sessions Begin: Zoom with screen share. Review grades, plan the week, send parent recap.
Ongoing Accountability: We track deadlines and reach out proactively between sessions.
No, and the difference matters. Tutoring is subject-specific: a tutor helps your student understand calculus or improve their essay writing. Academic accountability coaching is process-specific: we help your student manage their time, stay on top of their coursework, and build the organizational habits they need to succeed across all of their classes. Many students benefit from both, but they serve very different needs.
Sessions cancelled with at least 24 hours notice can be rescheduled at no charge. For no-shows, we hold a 10-minute window before marking the session as missed. A first no-show is charged at half the weekly session rate; subsequent no-shows are charged at the full rate. Consistency is where the results come from.
That is exactly what our parent recap emails are designed for. After every session you receive a written summary covering current grades, completed and upcoming assignments, anything flagged as a concern, and what we worked on together. You stay fully informed without your student feeling monitored. If something needs your attention between sessions, we reach out directly.
Yes. Families who prefer to pay for the full semester upfront rather than week by week are welcome to do so. This option is available for both packages. Please reach out at the time of enrollment and we will provide a semester total based on your student's start date and the number of weeks remaining in the term.
Coaching is available on a semester-by-semester basis. We recommend starting within the first two weeks of the semester to establish structure before the workload picks up. Spots are limited each semester, so we encourage families to reach out early.
